I'm really excited for tomorrow, not only because the weekend means quality R&R time away from work, but more importantly because one of my best friends (and former roommate) Courtney is coming to visit! We always have a good time when she's in town. Who knows what shenanigans we'll get into this time?! Haha. :)

Alex and I went to a local pet shelter near our house not too long ago. We haven't decided yet if we want a cat or a dog, but we definitely want a pet. Neither of us has owned a cat or a dog, so a cat might be a little easier for us. We prefer dogs over cats, but we'd feel bad if we got a dog and left it home alone all day (which we would have to do because we both work). With the landlord's OK and our paperwork filled out, we'll hopefully be getting a pet within the next month. Yay!

1950s Living Room Admiration.

I'm officially moved in to my new apartment as of this past weekend! At least, all of my stuff is here. Everything is pretty much still in boxes and waiting to be unpacked, but here nonetheless. Alex and I couldn't be more thrilled with our new pad! The appliances are new and the walls are freshly painted a beautifully neutral beige. Plus, the apartment is really close to campus, so we're still near our friends and able to hang out with them. It doesn't hurt that I now only live five minutes from work, either. ;)

The retro furniture I've been collecting over the past month in anticipation of this move is now happily situated in the living room as well. I've acquired a pair of 1960s two-tiered end tables, a mahogany wood coffee table, a pair of 60s retro lamps, and a 70s pine wood TV stand. It doesn't all match, but I love each individual piece and am happy to have gotten my hands on them. My camera is sitting at the bottom of one of my suitcases at the moment, so in lieu of actual photographs of my new space, I'll leave you with some dreamy pictures of 1950s living rooms that inspire me and my retro ways.

Stolen From Grandma.

Of all the blogs I follow (of which there are about 50), I follow a handful or so fashion blogs. One of my favorites is Stolen From Grandma by stylist, Claire McManus. Her style is very girly and feminine, often containing floral elements and chiffon. Claire posts pictures of not only her outfits, but also of photo shoots that she's styled. She recently launched an online SFG store , the campaign pictures for which I think are absolutely gorgeous. They're very professionally done and very much convey the feel of Claire's personal style. You can visit her shop here and feast your eyes on the beautiful campaign shots below.

These past couple of weeks have been really hectic for me, but in a good way. I started my job (two weeks in so far) and moved into my new apartment this past weekend. I haven't unpacked any of my stuff yet, but I plan to throughout the course of this week. It's nice to have a set routine again and I've found that I enjoy working way more than going to classes day in and day out and having homework and exams to worry about. Work is more relaxed and I can actually use my weekends for some R&R instead of for studying.

Blogging has fallen a little bit to the wayside for me as I get my bearings, not only in regard to updating GGG, but also with keeping up on my daily blog reads. I didn't want regular blogging to become a chore for me; I'd rather it be a fun pasttime that I do because I enjoy it. That being said, I have a LOT of pictures I need to post here and am very excited to do so. Here's to a happy and eventful October! :)

The Cosby Sweater Project.

I love coming across awesome blogs like The Cosby Sweater Project that utilize a collection of images in a creative way that most people wouldn't have thought to. CSP takes pictures from old Cosby Show episodes and creates digital prints of the characters' sweaters. Pretty cool, right? :) The juxtaposition of the prints and the pictures they were drawn from, as seen below and displayed on the blog, creates a really nice eye-catching visual. It's almost as if the sweaters are brought to life by the creation of these prints. Here are some of my favorite patterns.

I started my "big girl" job officially this week after a few days of orienation last week. Everything's going great so far. Everyone in the office is very friendly and willing to answer any questions or help you in any way they can. My supervisors and I had a meeting this morning to hash out our communication/pr strategy and I'm excited to get to work on that. I'll be revamping all of our social media outlets, taking down our old Facebook, Twitter, etc. and building them back up.

Also, my alma mater Ohio State just started school today which makes me a little nostalgic for college, even though I haven't been gone for that long. It's only been three months since gradation. I don't feel like an "adult" yet, though, to be honest, even though I'm out of college and have a full-time job now. Not that I'm supposed to feel all grown up or anything, it's just that I still feel very much like a college student. In any case, I'm looking forward to this weekend and hanging out with friends since there'll undoubtedly be a lot going on.
